Banana Farm 2
When we saw first banana farm we said that we should find out more about practicalities in a plantation. So we did, we went to visit the second banana plantation and worked for two days with local people. I would like to start describing the way from our guesthouse to the plantation. The first day started at 6.30 am when the tak-tak (full with workers) came to pick us up. The funny thing was that there weren’t only 15 workers but also three piles of boxes (lots of them!). Our backpacks went in the top of the boxes and we squeezed among the workers.

Mathare Slum- fighting with the poor
Mathare is one of the biggest slums in East Africa and the oldest in Kenya, counting officially around 70.000 inhabitants and still expanding, but in the community the rumors are that the population is around 500.000 living in around 25.000 households. Situated only 5 km from the center of Nairobi, a part of the world that nobody remembers, Mathare is bursting with dirt, poverty, overcrowd, misery, nevertheless life. Egypt
As the plan was made, the first stop from Budapest was Cairo. All of us got the visa very fast, we have had found accommodation on the internet that included transport free of charge which counted a lot, since Cairo is one of the most crowded cities and the distance to the city center was long, everybody knows that tourists don’t know the prices yet, so surely they would have charged us more if we wouldn’t have had the transportation. The people were very welcoming, maybe too much at one point, curious: were are we from, what is our name where are we staying and for how long, these were the frequent questions; but we were to find that these will be the same questions in every country, which makes the travel very tiring. As everything in this school, also arriving to West Coast demanded from us flexibility and quick adaption to situation changes. Our departure was postponed from day to day, from mornings to afternoons and finally we went out at 7th of March. So today is exactly 1 months since I and Martin arrived here in the “Mental Clinic for retarded DI’s” as somebody has written in our accommodation coordinates. If you are reading this you are lucky! This means that you are step closer to become a part of great and strong part of society witch wants to make a difference. Witch wants to understood the ‘’makers land’’ and be a part of it.
